Evgenii Dadonov scored 2:05 into overtime to complete the Vegas Golden Knights' 5-4 comeback victory over the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday evening at T-Mobile Arena.
Dominik Kubalik originally got things going for the Hawks with his 12th goal of the season at 10:02 of the 1st period. It would be the only puck in the cage by either squad.
In the 2nd period, however, Chicago would add 2 new goals to take a 3-0 lead heading to the 3rd frame of regulation. Both goals came late in the 2nd period, courtesy of Jonathan Toews at 14:52, his 9th of the season, and Dylan Strome at 18:16 for his 19th goal of 2021-22.
Vegas began their comeback charge by finally lighting the lamp with a goal by Chandler Stephenson (17) at just 1:24 into the 3rd. 59 seconds later, William Karlsson put the Knights within 1 with his 9th of the year at 2:23. Jack Eichel tied things for Vegas at 3 goals apiece at the 3:16 mark of the 3rd period. Chicago, however, managed to retake a 4-3 lead at 8:53 with Alex DeBrincat's 37th of the season. The Knights would not be outdone, though, as less than a minute later, Alex Pietrangelo (12) at 9:40 tied the game at 4. Dadonov's 17th goal of the season was the extra time winner for the Knights to complete the 3-goal 3rd period deficit comeback.
