Eberle Scores First Kraken Hat Trick in Win over Sabres

Jordan Eberle completed the first hat trick in Seattle Kraken history Thursday night against the Buffalo Sabres as Seattle picked up its 4th win of the season at Climate Pledge Arena in the Emerald City by a score of 5-2. Jaden Schwartz also provided a goal and 2 assists for the Kraken.

About 16 mintues into the first period, Morgan Geekie got the Kraken on the board with his 2nd of year past Sabres goalie Dustin Tokarski. 6.5 minutes into period 2, Buffalo responded with Tage Thompson's 3rd of the season to tie it at 1 goal apiece. Then with about 2 minutes to go in the middle frame of regulation, Buffalo took the lead on Kyle Okposo's 3rd of the year on the power play. After that, Jordan Eberle completed a natural hat trick, scoring three in a row, his first coming less than 30 seconds after Okposo's goal. Eberle would add his 2nd of the game 2 mins into period 3 and his third would come at the 8 minute mark. Jaden Schwartz' only goal, his 2nd of the season, came with less than 2 to go in regulation time to put the icing on the cake.

The Kraken completely outshot the Sabres 38-21 and out-hit them as well, 20-16. Buffalo countered with a faceoff wins advantage of 34-24 and a penalty minutes advantage of 19-17.

Next up for the NHL's 32nd franchise is a road trip to Glendale to face the winless Coyotes at 10 PM Saturday night. For Buffalo, it's back home to the Northeast Queen City for a Saturday evening tilt against the Detroit Red Wings at 7 PM.
