Filip Forsberg achieved his first career 4-goal game and the 3rd 4-goal performance in Nashville Predators history as the Smashville boys shutout the Columbus Blue Jackets 6-0 Wednesday night in the Music City at Bridgestone Arena. Forsberg, in fact, picked up a natural hat trick, three straight goals by one player, finishing his natural trick with just 6 seconds left in period 2.
Forsberg got his 4-goal game started early, his first of the four coming 8 minutes into the 1st period. Yakov Trenin (3) added to the scoresheet for the Preds at the 12:43 mark of the 1st period. Then just 9 SECONDS LATER, Nashville made it 3-0 with Forsberg's second of the night, his 8th.
In the 2nd period, Forsberg got his 9th of the season with under 5 minutes to go in the frame, breaking open what was looking like a scoreless period and sending the hats raining down from Bridgestone Arena rafters. He would add his 10th goal of the 2021-22 season to complete his 4-goal game a few minutes later on the power play.
In the 3rd period, Nashville added its 6th goal of the night courtesy of Dylan Cozens (2). This effort came at 7:15 of the 3rd period.
Nashville outshot Columbus 37-27 while each team picked up 7 hits each, accouting for a fairly clean-play game. The Preds also won 38 faceoffs, while Columbus picked up 24 circle duel victories. The Blue Jackets had 7 total penalty minutes, while Nashville logged 5.
Next up for is a December 2 clash against the Boston Bruins at 8 PM. For Columbus, they head south to Dallas to face the Stars the same night at 8:30 PM.
