Golden Knights Cut Off Oilers' Near Record 16-Game Win Streak

The Vegas Golden Knights put an end to one of the NHL's greatest regular season win streaks with a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday night at T-Mobile Arena.

Despite Connor McDavid scoring the first goal of the game, his 21st of the season at 4:35 of period 1, and it being a shorthanded effort, Vegas wasn't fazed much, later tying things at 1 apiece via Nicolas Roy (10) at 18:06 of the 1st period. No goals came in the 2nd period, meaning things stayed tied at 1 until the final 20 minute frame, when Chandler Stevenson gave Vegas the lead for good at the 1:24 mark of period 3. Later, the VGK would ice things with an empty netter by William "Wild Bill" Karlsson at 19:27 to claim a hard fought 3-1 win.

With the statement and streak snapping win, Vegas improves to 30-15-6, with a 7-3-1 record in their last 10 games. They play next tomorrow night in Arizona against the Coyotes at 9 pm. Edmonton drops to 29-16-1 and has a 9-1-0 last ten record with the streak snap. They play next on Friday in Anaheim at 10 pm.
