Hurricanes Dominate Winless Blackhawks to Go 7-0-0
That scandal isn't the only thing hurting the Blackhawks' play this season.
The Carolina Hurricanes kept their perfect start to the 2021-22 season with a 6-3 win over the Chicago Blackhawks Friday night in Raleigh. Although the Hawks drew first blood when Brandon Hagel got his 1st goal of the year, it was mostly all Caniacs after that, as they scored nearly 4 unanswered goals throughout the remainder of the 1st period, including 2 within 30 seconds. Carolina had all 6 goals on the night scored by different players, as did Chicago with 3 different players.
Carolina dominated the team stats board as well, outshooting Chicago 35-26, winning more faceoffs by a ratio of 30-23, and logging more penalty minutes, 23-13. By comparison, Chicago only had more hits than Carolina, with 35 body shots laid compared to Carolina laying out 19 players.
Carolina and Chicago kept the game a 1 goal affair up until late in the 2nd period, and that's where the Canes broke it open.
Chicago falls to a disappointing 0-6-1 with an 0-3-1 road record. Their next tilt is a hostile road trip to unbeaten rival St. Louis Saturday night at 8 PM. For Carolina, it's a Halloween tilt against the also winless Arizona Coyotes early Sunday afternoon at 1 PM. Both games will stream on ESPN+.
