Zach Hyman scored 2 goals and logged 1 assist and Leon Draisaitl added a pair of goals himself as the Edmonton Oilers blew out the struggling Montreal Canadiens 7-2 Saturday night in an empty Bell Centre.
Evander Kane opened the scoring for Edmonton, scoring his 1st goal in an Oilers sweater and his 1st of the season at 11:21 of the first period. A little over a minute later, Edmonton made it 2-0 with Hyman's first of the night, his 12th of the season at the 12:48 mark of period 1. The Oilers capped off a quick 3-goal first with Draisaitl logging his 1st of the night and 30th of 2021-22 at 13:08 to give Edmonton a 3-0 lead heading to the first intermission.
In the 2nd period, Montreal struck first, with Josh Anderson (9) making it 3-1 to get the Habs on the board. At 6:18, Edmonton made it 4-1 with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' 4th of the season. Much later on, at 14:30, Hyman logged his 2nd of the night for his 13th of 2021-22 to make it 5-1 Edmonton. Less than a minute later, though, at 15:09, Tyler Tofolli scored on the power play for Montreal's last goal of the night for his 8th of the season. Drasaitl would snuff out that effort, though, responding just as quickly with his 2nd of the night at 15:33 for goal #31 of the season to give Edmonton a 6-2 lead heading to the 2nd intermission.
The 3rd period only featured 1 goal, and it came with just 34 seconds left, courtesy of Derek Ryan for his 3rd of the season.
