Jarry Becomes 14th Goalie to Score; Penguins Fend Off Lightning

Tristan Jarry scored his 1st NHL goal, becoming the 14th goaltender in NHL history to do so, as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 Thursday night at Amalie Arena in a clash between Eastern Conference juggernauts.

Steven Stamkos made it 1-0 Tampa with his 10th of the season at 9:06 of the 1st period before the Bolts made it 2-0 a few minutes later from Tanner Jeannot (5) at 12:33 on a Lightning power play. Unfortunately, it'd be the last goal Tampa put in, as starting in the 2nd period, Pittsburgh tallied 2 in the 2nd, first from captain Sidney Crosby (14) at 8:53 and then Drew O'Connor (2) at 19:24 for a 2-2 Penguins advantage heading to period 3. The Pens would add a snipe from Jeff Carter (1) at 2:49 of period 3 before Jarry (1) iced it with a 200 foot empty netter at 18:52 of the final 20 minutes.

With the historic win, Pittsburgh improves to 11-10-1 and 6th in the Metropolitan Division. Their next contest is a duel with Pennsylvania rivals Philadelphia on December 2 at 7 pm. Tampa drops to 10-9-5, 5th in the Atlantic, with their next game a trip to Dallas to face the Stars on the same date, with a 2 pm puck drop scheduled.
