I'm not saying those jerseys cost "SMASH" "VILLE", but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a factor in some way.
The Tampa Bay Lightning eked out a 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators Saturday night at Nissan Stadium in the latest edition of the NHL's Stadium Series outdoor game. Although the Preds opened the scoring with Tanner Jeannot's 18th of the season on the power play at the 8:20 mark of period 1, the Lightning would tally 3 unanswered goals in the 2nd in 3rd periods. Nashville led 1-0 at the end of 1, but Tampa Bay scored 2 in the 2nd by Brayden Point (20) at just 0:58 in and Nikita Kucherov (9) at the 6:18 mark, both goals coming on the power play, to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead heading to the 3rd period.
It did take a while before either side put one in the cage in the final frame of regulation, as Steven Stamkos tallied his 25th of the season at 11:31 to give Tampa a 3-1 lead. And while Nashville did add one back courtesy of Filip Forsberg (27) on the power play at 12:29, Tampa held strong for the remaining 7:31 of regulation to pull out a hard-earned victory.
