Miller's Late Winner Helps Rangers Stun Kraken

K'Andre Miller scored with just 34 seconds remaining in regulation to give the New York Rangers a 3-2 win over the Seattle Kraken Sunday evening at the Garden.

Birthday buddy Mika Zibanejad scored the first goal of the game at 11::46 of the 1st period on the power play to make it 1-0 Rangers. It was the only goal by either team that period, meaning New York would carry the 1-0 advantage to the first locker room visit.

In the 2nd period, the Rangers once again struck first, with Alexis Lafrieniere's 9th of the season at 4:23 making it 2-0 Blueshirts. A few minutes later, Jared McCann sounded Seattle's boat horn with his 18th of 2021-22 at 7:17 to cut the Rangers lead to 2-1. It would stay that way for the remainder of the period.

In the 3rd, no goals were scored until 18:52, with Yanni Gourde (10) on the power play tying things at 2. It looked like there would be 3-on-3 overtime between the 2 sides until Miller scored his 3rd of the season at 19:26 to give New York the lead, which would hold for the remaining 34 seconds.

Seattle did manage to outshoot and outhit the Rangers, holding 42-24 and 24-23 advantages in those categories. New York held the advantage in PIM with 10 to Seattle's 6 and had 32 faceoff wins to the Kraken's 25.

Next up for the Rangers is a trip to Sunrise for a faceoff with the Florida Panthers on Feb. 1, with puck drop scheduled for 7 PM. Seattle, meanwhile, heads slightly north to Beantown to face the Bruins, same night and same time.
