Michael McCarron and Matt Duchene combined for 4 goals and 2 assists while Roman Josi added 4 assists of his own as the Nashville Predators shutout the San Jose Sharks 8-0 on their home ice Saturday night at the SAP Center.
As a matter of fact, McCarron and Duchene were the only goalscorers by either side in the first period. McCarron opened the scorebook with his 3rd of the season at 10:43, while Duchene tallied his first of the night and 26th of the season at 18:30.
Nashville would tally another pair of goals throughout the entire 2nd period, courtesy of Matt Luff's 2-goal game to further humiliate San Jose. Luff scored his 2nd and 3rd goals of 2021-22 at 2:43 and 19:30 to give Nashville a 4-0 lead heading to the 3rd period.
The Preds would then tally 4 straight goals in the 3rd, coming from Duchene and McCarron, Duchene at 4:43 for his 27th of the year, and McCarron's 4th at 6:07. Nashville finally had mercy on San Jose after scoring their last two goals by Yakov Trenin (13) at 11:13 and Mikael Granlund (9) on the power play at 13:06. In total, Nashville scored a touchdown in the game and bagged a 2-point conversion to boot.
