Stars Edge Wild with 7-Goal Effort By 7 Different Players

The Dallas Stars fended off the Minnesota Wild Monday night in the D with their first 7-goal game since January of this year, winning by a final score of 7-4. Joe Pavelski got the Stars on the board first and fast, his 12th of the season coming just 1:31 into the game. A mere couple minutes later, Esa Lindell logged his first goal of the season shorthanded to give Dallas a 2-0 lead with less than 5 minutes gone. A couple of minutes after that though would see Minnesota cut the Stars lead in half courtesy of Ryan Hartman's 14th of the season to make it 2-1 Dallas. The Wild would also tie things up with less than 5 minutes to go in period 1 courtesy of Kevin Fiala (5) to set the score at 2-2. For a moment, it seemed like that would be the score heading into the first intermission, but Dallas had one more ace up their sleeve, making it 3-2 a mere minute later with Tyler Seguin's 8th of 2021-22.

In the 2nd period, Dallas once again lit the lamp first, albeit not as fast. Roope Hintz' 12th of the season on the power play to make it 4-2 Dallas. Later on, towards the end of the 2nd period, Kirill "The Thrill" Kaprizov, last year's Calder Trophy winner, got Minnesota back within 1 with his 12th of the season to make it 4-3 Dallas.

Moving to the third period, Dallas pulled the first period tricks once again, extending their lead back to a 2-goal advantage with Jacob Peterson (5) at 2:06 in. Then exactly a minute later, Miro Heskainen tallied his 4th goal of 2021-22 to make it 6-3 Dallas. Exactly 8 minutes after Heskainen's effort, Kevin Fiala scored his 2nd of the game and 6th of the season on the power play to again cut the Dallas lead down a peg, 6-4. It would be in vain, however, as Dallas would add one last lamp lighter on the night with Jamie Benn's 8th of 2021-22 with under 2 minutes in regulation time.
