Yes, I'm doing playoff game recaps.
Kirill "The Thrill" Kaprizov achieved his first career NHL playoff hat trick while Joel Eriksson Ek added a pair of goals and an assist as the Minnesota Wild rebounded from a 4-0 shutout in Game 1 to take Game 2 of their first-round series matchup against the St. Louis Blues with a 6-2 victory Wednesday night at Xcel Energy Center.
Eriksson Ek opened the scoring for Minnesota at 9:33 of the first period to kick off a 3-goal opening frame for the Wild. At 13:04, Frederick Gaudreau made it 2-0 for Minnesota, and Kaprizov scored his 1st of the night at 19:06 on the power play for the 3-0 Wild lead heading to the 2nd period.
Eriksson Ek once again opened the scoring for the Wild in the 2nd period, needing just 51 seconds to give Minnesota a 4-0 lead. The only other goal in the period came at 12:34, courtesy of the Blues' Jordan Kyrou to get St. Louis on the board making it 4-1 by the end of the 2nd period.
The Blues would cut Minnesota's lead in half with Vladimir Tarasenko scoring at 4:14 for a 4-2 game. It would be the last goal by the Blues, though, as Minnesota would put things away with Kaprizov's back-to-back goals completing his hat trick, the first at 11:47 and the 2nd at 12:52 to set the final score.
